About The Position
As the Constant Attendant, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for patient observation. This role involves two distinct types of observation: Constant Attendant (CA) observation, which is less strict and may involve observing multiple patients, and 1:1 observation, which is strict and requires remaining with a single patient at all times, often due to suicide precautions or behavioral management needs. The expectation is to work 4 shifts per month.
Requirements
- Meets the physical demands of position.
- Demonstrates ability to cope with and function under stress.
- Trained in non-violent crisis intervention.
Nice To Haves
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
- Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
- Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.
- Maintain direct 1:1 constant observation.
- Keep patient within an arm’s length at all times, even when patient is bathing and toileting.
