About The Position

This position serves civil papers and warrants, provides security for the courthouse, assists other agencies, and performs general law enforcement duties. The role requires locating individuals, making arrests, collecting fines, transporting individuals to jail, preparing courtrooms, securing evidence, responding to emergencies, enforcing traffic laws, testifying in court, and working cases as assigned. The job is performed in an environment that involves routine and frequent exposure to various hazards including bright/dim light, dusts, pollen, extreme heat/cold, wet/humid conditions, extreme noise, animals, vibration, fumes, traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, radiation, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals, explosives, and violence.

Requirements

• Applicant MUST HAVE A VALID CURRENT TEXAS INTERMEDIATE PEACE OFFICER LICENSE.
• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Requires Intermediate Texas Peace Officer’s license.
• Requires Civil Process Proficiency Certification.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Serves civil papers and warrants by locating recipient, tracing missing persons, sending papers to the proper agency for serving, making arrests, collecting fines, and transporting persons to jail.
• Provides security for the courthouse by preparing courtroom for trials and jury selection, securing evidence, responding to problems, making arrests, and maintaining security during trials.
• Assists other agencies by responding to emergencies, responding to calls for help, and providing funeral escorts.
• Performs general law enforcement duties by responding to complaint calls, performing general patrol duties, enforcing traffic laws, testifying in court, and working cases as assigned.
• Performs related work as required.
