About The Position

The Conservatory Visiting Lecturer position requires a Master's degree or equivalent in the field of specialization, demonstrating promise in teaching, scholarly, or artistic achievements. Candidates without a Master's degree must possess equivalent educational or professional experience, with a formal statement of equivalence required for appointment. Service as a Lecturer does not lead to tenure, nor does it count towards promotion or the probationary period for tenure. Each appointment is for a specific duration and subject to review according to University guidelines for faculty evaluation before any renewal. The Lecturer rank is not eligible for tenure.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or its equivalent in the field of specialization
  • Promise of teaching success and of scholarly or artistic achievements
  • If no master's degree, equivalent educational or professional experience in the appropriate area of instructional responsibility is required, with a statement of equivalence for appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • College-level experience highly desirable
  • Willing and qualified to teach in related areas such as entrepreneurship/professional development, music theory, and musicology
  • An earned doctorate or terminal degree in the field of specialization
  • Published research in field of specialization
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work
