About The Position

This is an unpaid internship opportunity for individuals interested in becoming conservative writers, bloggers, podcasters, on-the-air talent, or influencers. OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) is seeking to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America’s challenges by hosting a media outlet, producing educational materials, and facilitating dialogue. ONC is nonpartisan and actively seeks conservative voices to maintain political balance. The Conservative Writer Intern will focus on writing political content, including OpEds and Policy Proposals for ONC’s website. Interns may also participate in podcasts, social media, events, and other assignments. This remote position requires comfort with remote coordination tools like Zoom and Slack, a high level of communication, and initiative. Interns must commit to at least a full semester, with opportunities for leadership roles and involvement in projects for longer commitments.

Requirements

Working towards a degree in Political Science, Journalism, English or Literature, Public Policy, Media Studies, International Relations, and/or related fields.
Exceptional writing skills (English).
Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict.
Ability to work remotely and on their own schedule in order to make deadlines.
Ability to attend some weekly Friday afternoon Editorial meetings.
Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Experience in policy research, political commentary, political science, or a related domain.
Google Workspace experience.
A writing sample must be submitted (2-3 paragraphs at the bottom of your cover letter).

Responsibilities

Create consistent content for the website with a team of core content writers.
Ensure ONC's commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate is reflected in all published work.
Participate in civil dialogue with conservative, progressive, and moderate writers focused on our 8 policy areas: Governance, Economics, Infrastructure, Healthcare, Foreign Policy and Defense, Justice and Public Safety, Social Issues, and Science, Environment and Technology.
Participate in podcasts, events, and other tasks as needed.
