About The Position

Environment New Hampshire is seeking a Conservation Advocate to protect and conserve New Hampshire’s natural environment, including its forests, lakes, and parks. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience as an advocate or organizer (advanced degrees may count toward experience).
  • Effective communicator with excellent writing and public speaking skills.
  • Skilled people person and good listener with a track record of recruiting people.
  • Open-minded and interested in working with people who may have differing views.
  • Creative and effective at solving complex problems; a strategic thinker.
  • Well-organized and goal-oriented, capable of accountability and adaptation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in policy development, research, and messaging to determine program priorities and policy positions for environmental protection in New Hampshire.
  • Build and demonstrate support for campaign goals by reaching out to a broad range of organizations and constituency groups across the political spectrum, including unlikely allies.
  • Organize webinars, community events, and public meetings to educate and persuade others to join advocacy efforts.
  • Organize media events, write opinion pieces, and build a social media following for campaigns.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers at the state, regional, and federal levels through lobbying, testifying at hearings, and producing written materials.
  • Write grant proposals, build relationships with foundation staff, and raise money from individual donors.
  • Identify and recruit staff candidates and manage interns to maximize campaign impact, with potential to oversee staff.
