About The Position

ITTConnect is seeking a senior Confluent Kafka/Java Engineer to work on site for a client in the Columbus, OH area. This is a contract position with a client that is a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology and engineering services with over 300,000 team members in nearly 50 countries. The end client is in the Utilities sector. We are seeking a Senior Kafka / Java Developer to support real-time data streaming initiatives. This role requires deep hands-on experience with the Confluent Kafka platform along with strong Java/Springboot development skills to build microservices, connectors, and streaming workflows. The ideal candidate is not just familiar with Kafka but has actively built and operated event-driven systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop Kafka producers, consumers, and stream-processing solutions.
• Administer Kafka clusters, topics, brokers, consumer groups, and connectors.
• Deploy and manage Kafka Connect integrations.
• Configure Schema Registry, ACLs, RBAC, TLS, and platform security controls.
• Develop custom connectors using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
• Deploy Kafka workloads to OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
• Monitor platform health using Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
• Support CDC integrations using Oracle GoldenGate and Debezium.
• Drive platform standardization, automation, and self-service enablement.
