About The Position

The Configuration Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving the organization’s Change Management and Configuration Management processes. This role ensures that changes are introduced in a controlled and coordinated manner and that configuration data is accurate, complete, and aligned with organizational standards. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with stakeholder engagement experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, One-and-one- half (1.5) years of additional experience can substitute for one (1) year of a typical degree program.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a change/configuration manager role or supporting configuration responsibilities
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Jira, including creating dashboards and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self‑starter and collaboratively as a team player.
  • Experience working with stakeholders across functional and leadership levels.
  • Experience creating SOPs, job aids, and process improvement documentation.
  • ServiceNow experience, including CMDB functionality.
  • Hands‑on experience mapping attributes for Configuration Items (CIs).
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end‑to‑end Change and Configuration Management processes.
  • Maintain and enhance the CMDB, including defining and mapping attributes for Configuration Items (CIs).
  • Oversee change control workflows, approvals, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, job aids, and process documentation.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to review changes, gather requirements, and resolve issues.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports (preferably in Jira and/or ServiceNow).
  • Analyze trends and data to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Document improvement plans and track execution progress.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure adherence to configuration and change management standards.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and configuration accuracy initiatives.
  • Serve as an advocate for ITIL best practices within the organization.
