About The Position

This position supports the DDG 51 Machinery Control System (MCS) program by managing configuration artifacts and deliverables throughout the system acquisition and lifecycle process. The Configuration Manager works with sponsor stakeholders, DDG 51 ships, and internal development teams to ensure configuration baselines are maintained and technical documentation is accurate and current. This is a junior-level position that will receive mentorship and oversight from senior configuration management staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or Engineering is required. Candidates may qualify with applicable academic projects, internships, co-op experience, or other relevant educational experience.
  • Candidates must be able to provide proof of degree completion prior to their start date.
  • Candidates without a STEM or Engineering degree may be considered with 4+ years of relevant professional experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Active government security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Valid US passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Up to 5% travel availability.
  • Ability to work onboard US Navy ships (pier side and at sea).

  • Exposure to SQL or database query tools.
  • Understanding of version control systems and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing configuration deltas across DDG-51 Class ships for both Backfit and New Construction programs.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of program requirements and plans per the Command's System Engineering Process (SEP).
  • Participate in peer reviews and coordinate meetings with development, systems, testing, and cyber teams.
  • Support quarterly audits including program audits, ready-to-test audits, and delivery certification audits under senior CM guidance.
  • Maintain inventory of ship software delivery artifacts for Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems.
  • Create and update JIRA workflows to track progress and monitor key tasking.
  • Support data calls and program review preparations.
  • Assist in maintaining technical documentation configuration per NAVSEA standards.
  • Generate ship delivery letters and audit packages under supervision.
  • Develop and maintain training documents for cross-training purposes.
  • Support configuration baseline tracking and version control activities.
