About The Position

Vision IT is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Configuration Management / Systems Administrator to support mission-critical operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in systems administration, configuration management, cybersecurity compliance, and infrastructure support within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This is a fully onsite position requiring an active Secret security clearance. (This Position is Contingent Upon Award)

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance (required prior to start).
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration and/or Configuration Management within a DoD or federal environment.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, STIGs, RMF, and NIST compliance requirements.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Security+ CE, CISSP, Microsoft, Linux, or VMware certifications.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Space Force, Air Force, or other DoD programs.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and hybrid infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments in accordance with DoD standards and security policies.
  • Perform configuration management activities including system baselining, version control, change tracking, and documentation management.
  • Support system patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening activities.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support for infrastructure and enterprise applications.
  • Maintain configuration management databases (CMDB) and ensure accurate inventory and asset tracking.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and system diagrams.
  • Assist with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, STIG implementation, and compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to ensure secure and reliable system operations.
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning activities.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and deployment initiatives.
