Smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures, using hand tools or power tools including floats, trowels, and screeds. This role involves spreading concrete to a specified depth and workable consistency, leveling, smoothing, and shaping surfaces of freshly poured concrete. The finisher will also remove rough or defective spots, patch holes, and mold expansion joints and edges. Depending on the project, responsibilities may include sprinkling colored stone chips or coloring powder for a specific finish, creating a rough concrete surface with a broom, mixing cement, or directing subgrade work and concrete mixing. Specializations may include step finishing or cement mason maintenance involving concrete repair.
