About The Position

Responsible for smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites. Perform repairs on cured concrete. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred but not necessary
  • Operate power vibrator to compact concrete, pneumatic chisel, saws, power grinder and hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure concrete surfaces
  • Set and check the forms that hold concrete to ensure they are well constructed
  • Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
  • Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
  • Mold expansion joints
  • Pour concrete ensuring that it is level and smooth
  • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms
  • Mix and apply cementitious materials for the repair of surface defects in cured concrete
  • Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor
