About The Position

This role involves working with the VD&C Manager and assigned projects to create field-related layout, detail, and coordination drawings. The position requires performing essential Project Engineer responsibilities and duties, assisting with reviewing pursuit and project information to produce realistic renderings, graphics, animations, and other visuals. The engineer will collaborate with pursuits teams to develop site logistics plans and assist with developing content for interviews and pursuits. Utilizing tools and software for site surveying and layout with supervision is also a key part of the role. The engineer will assist with setting up background models for efficient project setup, using real-world and project coordinates for coordination, surveying, and layout. They will also set up cloud-based collaborative workspaces and model-sharing environments for various project contract types. Utilizing reality capture techniques and technologies to produce deliverables that solve challenges, and comparing existing conditions to design intent to identify discrepancies and work collaboratively to resolve them are important aspects of the job. The role includes assisting with reality capture documentation and converting it into accurate models of various trades, conducting VDC-related constructability reviews, and managing the resolution of design conflicts. Observing and assisting with VDC-related schedule activities, setting up efficient meetings, and educating project teams on running coordination meetings are also responsibilities. Identifying, assigning, and resolving coordination clashes to support efficient coordination, and assisting with as-builts, facility operations, and maintenance requirements are expected. The engineer will support with exporting layout, spooling, or other fabrication files and develop modeling and detailing deliverables for at least one self-perform discipline. Providing field support and assisting with training on implementing VDC tools and processes, as well as proper VDC applications based on delivery method and construction type, are also part of the role. The engineer will support reviewing, developing plans, and managing project requirements and deliverables related to coordination and self-perform trades, and assist projects for any operating group within the company as necessary. Other responsibilities will be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Concrete field exp.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of design, engineering, or construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of industry standard BIM software application (working knowledge a plus)
  • Knowledge of Revit, a plus
  • Working knowledge and understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Effectively written and verbal communication
  • Organized individual with the ability to multi-task.
  • Critical thinking ability, relationship driven, and effective problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize existing conditions capture technology data to compare existing conditions to design intent, identify discrepancies, and work collaboratively with teams to resolve.
  • Assist with reality capture documentation and converting into accurate model of various trades.
  • Assist with conducting VDC-related constructability reviews and manage resolution of design conflicts with design and trade partners.
  • Observe and assist with VDC-related schedule activities.
  • Assist with setting up efficient meetings and educating project teams to be able to run project coordination meetings.

  • Support projects for any operating group within the company, as necessary.
