Conceptual Design Engineer, Electronics Packaging
About The Position
Moog's Space Sector is seeking a Conceptual Design Engineer, Electronics Packaging to engineer electronic assemblies for NASA, military, and commercial space applications. This role requires a high degree of foresight and creativity, and the ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering problems. The engineer will work within program teams to execute various aspects of the design process, contributing to the conceptual design and development of electronic packaging, including controller layout, interconnects, CCAs, and cabling. Support for manufacturing of PWBs, CCAs, cabling, and machined components is also part of the role. The engineer will utilize NX for 3D modeling and 2D drawings, integrated with Teamcenter, and perform tolerance stack-ups, clearance analyses, and basic thermal and structural analysis.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Design and Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. Currently holding a clearance is preferred.
- Interest in designing and/or testing circuit card assemblies, cabling, and enclosures for electronic control systems
- Self-motivated, with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Proficient communication skills, both in writing technical documentation and in presentations
- Ability to work onsite in Elma, NY
Responsibilities
- Work cross discipline with the engineering organization to ensure program success.
- Contribute to the conceptual design and development of electronic packaging including controller layout, interconnect, CCA’s, and cabling.
- Support manufacturing of PWBs, CCAs, cabling, and machined components associated with electronic packaging.
- Work in NX to complete 3D solid models and 2D drawings in conjunction with Teamcenter.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and clearance analyses.
- Complete low level thermal and structural analysis.
