About The Position

We are currently looking for a mechanical designer to join our Boucherville teams. The position holder is responsible for the 3D design and modeling of parts and/or assemblies. Additionally, they produce 2D drawings from the 3D model, adhering to the technical drawing standards of the client or MSB. They will also play a lead role for more junior team members.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a mechanical or aerospace engineering role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of aerospace mechanical products.
  • Mandatory proficiency in Catia V5.
  • Bilingual (spoken and written) in French and English to communicate with English-speaking clients (approximately 50% of the time).
  • Member of the Order of Engineers.
  • Innovative and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Practical, resourceful personality with a hands-on approach.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including how they are assembled and built.
  • Good knowledge of material properties and how to apply them appropriately.
  • Understanding of load distribution within systems and consideration of these factors in design and approach.
  • Strong skills in priority management, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts feasibility studies related to the design, operation, and performance of parts, mechanisms, and systems.
  • Participates in the development of innovative new products that meet the very high expectations of customers, while achieving internal targets related to cost, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Obtains all necessary standards and regulatory documentation related to research and development activities.
  • Participates in project planning and may be required to lead projects.
  • Prepares cost and schedule estimates, technical reports, and design specifications.
  • Designs parts and systems.
  • Generates the necessary drawing information and specifications to support assembly while meeting cost, quality, and reliability requirements.
  • Prepares contractual documents and evaluates bids or proposals.
  • Supervises technicians and other designers/engineers (when applicable) and reviews and approves designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Optimizes designs to ensure system competitiveness and proposes solutions aligned with recognized industry best practices.
  • Participates in mentoring, training, and evaluating members of the engineering team.
