About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating with the base COMSEC office for the management, issuance, and accountability of COMSEC material and cryptographic keys. The specialist will maintain accurate records, support inspections, train users, and manage various COMSEC devices. Key responsibilities include ensuring the continuity of mission operations by coordinating key requirements and replacements, assisting users with device operations and procedures, and conducting inventories of COMSEC safes and controlled cryptographic items. The role also involves supporting the ordering, receipt, and distribution of cryptographic keys, assisting with firmware updates and maintenance of Controlled Cryptographic Items, and maintaining familiarity with SCI, SAP, COMSEC, and TEMPEST requirements. Additional security and COMSEC duties may be assigned to support mission requirements.

Requirements

• Familiarity with SCI, SAP, COMSEC, and TEMPEST requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience managing COMSEC devices such as vIPers, BITLs, STEs, TACLANEs, and KIV-7Ms.
• Experience with COMSEC record-keeping and inventory management.
• Experience training users on COMSEC procedures.
• Experience coordinating cryptographic key requirements and replacements.
• Experience with firmware updates and maintenance of Controlled Cryptographic Items.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the base COMSEC office for the receipt, management, issuance, and accountability of COMSEC material and cryptographic keys.
• Maintain accurate COMSEC records, inventories, and required documentation.
• Support self-inspections, base COMSEC inspections, and other compliance reviews.
• Train and document COMSEC and secure voice users as required.
• Manage and support COMSEC devices, including vIPers, BITLs, STEs, TACLANEs, and KIV-7Ms.
• Coordinate key requirements and replacements to prevent interruption of mission operations.
• Assist users with device operation, keying actions, and COMSEC procedures.
• Conduct required inventories of assigned COMSEC safes and controlled cryptographic items.
• Support ordering, receipt, and distribution of cryptographic keys.
• Assist with firmware updates and maintenance of Controlled Cryptographic Items.
• Maintain familiarity with SCI, SAP, COMSEC, and TEMPEST requirements as applicable to supported programs.
• Perform additional security and COMSEC duties as required to support mission requirements.
