About The Position

TDI, a GE Aerospace Company, is a leader in the design and manufacturing of turbine-powered start systems and turbine air motors. The Dayton, OH site is part of Unison, which is introducing the next-generation Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. The site also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows for the aerospace industry. This role involves operating computerized and manual machines in an assigned cell, performing daily preventative maintenance, verifying calibration, and maintaining eQuals requirements. The position requires adherence to Lean Manufacturing guidelines and company safety protocols. The CMO will work under general direction in a team environment, keeping the team informed of work progress and issues. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
6 months of manufacturing related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day
Ability to work with upper body extremities
Ability to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis
Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on occasion
Must be able to work overtime, when required
Willing to undergo on-the-job training in order to obtain CVP certification within first 6 months as an Associate CMO
Willing to participate in MRO drug free workplace program
Must meet the status of a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee or refugee status)

Nice To Haves

Prior assembly and/or disassembly experience
Prior machine operating experience
Experience with manual or automated welding process
Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other gages used to perform inspection
Education or experience in programming and operations in programmable controllers
PC experience in use of email, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Word
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and a cellular work environment
Ability/prior experience reading and understanding routers and process instructions
Tube bending experience
CVP in Hydro and/or Boroscope
Knowledge of swage, shrink processes
Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

Perform CMO operations in assigned cell
Use pneumatic tools, hand tools, and calibrated gauges to perform work
Operate machine(s) in a prescribed safe manner
Perform daily preventative maintenance
Verify calibration
Maintain eQuals requirements
Use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)
Perform basic housekeeping of cell (5S)
Review, understand, and follow work instructions, required specifications, and blueprints to perform manufacturing operations
Ensure all company paperwork is filled out accurately
Fully understand blueprints
Identify revision levels
Produce error-free products
Meet production goals
Cross-train
Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environment
Work to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines
Understand safety requirements within assigned area and operate within the company safety guidelines
Perform essential duties and responsibilities in service cells which includes working with a variety of computerized/manual machines and manufacturing operations
Keep team informed of work progress, timelines, and issues
