Computer Vision Engineer II

JPL/NASA•Pasadena, CA
•$122,408 - $150,384•Onsite

About The Position

JPL is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to join the Navigation and Mapping group in the Guidance and Control Section, part of the Mechanical and Control Systems Division. The division is responsible for technology development, advanced concepts, and the design, development, delivery, integration and test, verification and validation, and operation of complex mechanical, thermal, propulsion, robotics, and guidance and control systems. The engineer will implement image-based mapping and navigation capabilities, applying computer vision to problems such as map-relative localization, hazard detection and avoidance, and 3D structure recovery. The work involves adapting standard solutions to problem-specific requirements and, when appropriate, designing and implementing novel solutions. Deliverables will have direct mission impact and require a high level of rigor, supporting JPL’s terrestrial, lunar, Mars-centric, and outer planets missions. The primary focus is upcoming robotic and human Mars and Moon landing missions. The position is based in Pasadena, California, at JPL’s campus-like environment. The typical full-time-equivalent annual hiring range is $122,408–$150,384.
