Computer Test Technician - 2nd Shift
About The Position
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is seeking a Computer Test Technician for their 2nd shift operations in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. This role is designed as 'Onsite' and involves testing the operability of electrical systems and components, troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning systems, and interpreting schematics and specifications. The technician will participate with engineers in debugging new and existing products. The Chippewa Falls Manufacturing Operations team builds servers, racked solutions, and performance-optimized datacenters. This position requires a 'Quality First!' mindset and adherence to electrostatic discharge procedures. The role also involves operating hand and power tools, minimizing scrap costs, maintaining tools and a clean work area, and lifting up to 40lbs repetitively. Successful candidates will maintain good communication and working relationships with management and peers, assist as needed, and adhere to company policies regarding dress code and attendance. The technician will be responsible for discerning hardware failures and replacing defective components during diagnostic tests.
Requirements
- Typically an Associate's degree or equivalent experience and 4-6 years of experience.
- May include highly experienced individuals performing equivalent work who are non-degreed or degreed in an unrelated field.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Working knowledge in the field of electronics technology.
- Ability to be knowledgeable in Lunix commands and structure.
- Ability to define root cause analysis on failing hardware.
- Ability to utilize various hand tools to accomplish job functions.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs repetitively over the course of an 8hr day.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and tests operability of electrical systems and components.
- Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning systems and components.
- Reads/interprets schematics, printouts and specifications as needed to complete tests to determine the functionality of electrical circuitry and components.
- Participates with engineers in the debugging and troubleshooting of new and existing products.
- Performs tests required to evaluate standard and special devices.
- Ensures that tests are performed within set parameters.
- Replaces defective hardware and restarts diagnostics.
- Minimizes potential latent damage to customer products by ensuring electrostatic discharge procedures are followed.
- Operates manual and power hand tools.
- Drives scrap cost reduction by minimizing scrap costs to business through handling errors.
- Responsible for maintaining tools and a safe & clean work area.
- Maintains successful communication and working relationship with management & peers of all levels, and reciprocates professional, team-oriented performance.
- Assists coordinator, supervisor, or peers as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for maintaining proper dress code as described and maintaining acceptable attendance levels per attendance policy.
- Responsible for following all rules and regulations of the facilities as described during new hire orientation.
- Responsible to discern between hardware failures and replace hardware components that fail during the diagnostic test runs.
