About The Position

Lincoln Public Schools is seeking a Computer Technician to join our team! This position is responsible for diagnosing, responding to, and resolving technical failures in a timely fashion to maintain consistent use of all hardware. The technician will have direct responsibility for the maintenance, operational efficiency, and appearance of all computers and hardware. This role also performs preventative maintenance on all existing systems, including the wide-area network, and other related technology duties as may be assigned. This is a 12-month position.

Requirements

  • Technical support for Windows, Windows server related OS, and Google Workspace.
  • Configuration and set up of Windows, Windows server related OS, and Google Workspace.
  • Diagnose and correct hardware problems.
  • Immediate technical support to staff.
  • Hardware and software installation.
  • Ensure anti-virus software patches are installed, kept up-to-date, and working properly.
  • Share files as required by staff for student and staff use.
  • Set up and maintain user e-mail accounts.
  • Check new computer equipment on arrival and install as appropriate.
  • Maintain computer equipment inventory, including recording serial numbers and locations, as well as, surpluses and removed equipment.
  • Maintain computer peripheral equipment (scanners, printers, projectors, etc.).
  • Keep a log of all technical faults.
  • Establish periodic review and schedule maintenance of existing computers and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot phones, intercom, and camera systems.
  • Liaise with external support companies as needed to resolve faults speedily, as well as for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove user network accounts where appropriate.
  • Carry out routine network maintenance tasks.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure (cable and patch panel, router, switch, ATM) and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Follow supplier’s recommended procedures.
