About The Position

This full-time Computer Technician position at The GRID is responsible for maintaining, preparing, and testing all computer-related equipment (including laptops, tablets, and PCs) for sale in the retail store and online. The role involves testing, diagnosing, and problem-solving computer equipment, refurbishing parts, and building computer systems. The technician will also sort donations, determine their suitability for sale, refurbishing, or recycling, and research market values to price hardware and software. Additionally, the position requires maintaining product flow to the sales floor, ensuring the computer work area is neat and organized, answering customer questions, assisting with computer shopping needs, and processing customer transactions. The technician will also be responsible for reporting security or theft issues to management and performing other job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Computer Science or related field and one years' experience maintaining, configuring and restoring computers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides testing, diagnosis, problem solving and prepares all donated computer equipment for sale by refurbishing parts and building computer systems.
  • Sorts computer donations and determines appropriateness for sales, refurbishing or recycling.
  • Researches market value of computer, game, and electronic equipment, prices computer hardware and software.
  • Maintains product flow to sales floor.
  • Ensures computer work area is neat and organized.
  • Answers questions from customers and assists customers with computer shopping needs.
  • Processes customer transactions by ringing the sale on a cash register, collecting payment, making change, bagging the merchandise and thanking the customer.
  • Reports known or suspected security and or theft problems to Store Manager or other member of management.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager.
