About The Position

Minnesota State College Southeast seeks a Cybersecurity and Networking Instructor in our program, dedicated to excellence in teaching, who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Minnesota State College Southeast are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The instructor may earn unlimited status upon completion of six successful probationary semesters.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a computer or information technology field.
  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in networking, network administration, cybersecurity and forensics.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Must meet the Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement prior to the end of probation.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field Computer Systems Networking

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience administering Windows Server, networking infrastructure, and security controls in a business environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, virtualization, scripting, vulnerability assessment, incident response, risk management, and compliance .
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats and developing hands-on labs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in department and college curriculum development.
  • Deliver classroom, web-enhanced and/or online course instruction.
  • Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in department accreditation and review.
  • Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
  • Advocate on behalf of students, program and college.
  • Collaboration on public and private construction initiatives.
  • Course assignments may include day, evening, and weekend hours; and off-site locations
