About The Position

This position is responsible for deploying, repairing and maintaining hardware/software equipment including: PCs, laptops, iPads, VoiP phones, cell phones, copiers, and scanners. Provide information technology services to internal customers (employees) responsible for a broad array of social service programs serving the citizens of Cecil County.

Requirements

  • Two years and six months of experience, one year of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks and an additional eighteen months of experience converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools; planning, installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and fifteen credit hours from an accredited college or university in systems analysis and applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools for the additional eighteen months of the required experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and completion of a certification program in Network Administration, such as Certified Novell Administrator (CNA), Microsoft Certified Product Specialist NT 4.0 Administrator or equivalent certification program for the additional eighteen months of the required experience.
  • Experience in one of the following areas on a year-for-year basis for graduation from an accredited a high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate: operating computer systems, scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining backups or data storage, processing data on computer systems, evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software or converting data from project specifications by developing programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in computer information technology, management information systems, or other information technology related field, including course work in local or wide area computer networks, from an accredited college or university and one year of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks for the required experience.
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Network Analyst classifications or Network Integration and Management specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of Customer Service experience in a 'Help Desk' environment (in-person, virtual, and/or ticket system) working with staff to understand, diagnose, and solve hardware and software issues.
  • Six months of experience developing and implementing user guides, training, and other materials to support users in learning new processes and platforms.
  • Six months of experience working with LAN/WAN, Cyber Security and/or with programs including OneDrive, Google Suite, TEAMS, SharePoint, Service Now, Active Directory, Intune, Azure, AI Platforms, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to user work orders received via the Help Ticket system promptly and professionally, providing resolution to software, hardware and application issues.
  • Maintains contact with software/hardware vendors to trouble-shoot and resolve equipment or application problems.
  • Repairs, as possible, malfunctioning printers, computers, iPhones, iPads and other devices.
  • Installs and upgrades computer software applications, using Intune and Management Console.
  • Monitors agency computers and services for viruses and malware.
  • Orients/ retrains users in the appropriate utilization of DHS systems for security purposes.
  • Maintains agency VOIP system and automated attendant telephone system.
  • Configures changes for new and existing employees for telephone and voice mail applications.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots agency copiers under contract and consults with technicians when necessary.
  • Networks copiers when possible for best economic outcome.
