About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Work Management organization at the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Monticello, MN or Prairie Island Nuclear Plant in Welch, MN. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in computer information systems while supporting improvement efforts in work management. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Xcel Energy supports a hybrid work model to enable collaboration and flexibility. Many roles are expected to work onsite three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday); however, work location expectations vary based on role, team, and business needs. Requirements

  • Current student, Junior or higher
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework
  • Proficiency with tools such as SQL, Power BI, Excel (Power Query/ Pivot Tables) and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to support operational and management decision making.
  • Collect, organize and analyze data from multiple data sources to improve data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Design and implement automated reporting processes that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with staff to understand business processes, identify reporting needs and translate them into meaningful data visualizations and performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to improve workflows, operational performance and strategic decision making.
