About The Position

ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) is seeking a Computer/Data Scientist to join our Airport Surface Detection Equipment, Model X (ASDE-X) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a full-time on-site position at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK. The ASDE-X is an FAA surveillance system that tracks aircraft and vehicles on airport runways and taxiways to prevent collisions, especially in low visibility.

Requirements

• Be a US Citizen.
• Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
• RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.
• A Bachelors (ABET) degree in Engineering or related IT field, such as Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
• 3 - 6 years of related work experience.
• Experience in writing PL/SQL scripts for Oracle and SQL queries.
• Experience with C++
• Experience with Python
• Experience with Oracle Analytics
• Ability to work independently, as well as on a team, in an agile environment.
• Ability to research, troubleshoot and problem solve quickly.
• Ability to learn on the job/willing to self-teach.
• Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication with high organization.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable.
• Experience in Postgres
• Experience in Power BI
• Experience in Oracle DB administration

Responsibilities

• Analyze high-throughput surface surveillance data to detect system anomalies, tracking inaccuracies, coverage gaps, and performance patterns.
• Collaborate with backend system engineers to define data specifications and pipeline requirements.
• Design, optimize, and maintain SQL queries and Power BI dashboards for system performance measurement.
• Establish data validation standards and quality metrics.
• Attend meetings, design reviews, working groups, and briefings.
