About The Position

Provides assistance and instruction to patrons in using computers, IndyPL website, downloadable services, databases, online catalog, printers and other equipment. Troubleshoots a wide variety of technical issues with computers, mobile devices, digital services and other office equipment. Assists patrons with various library services including finding library materials, recommending titles, locating library materials at other locations, placing requests and referring to other community resources. Provides quick reference assistance to patrons and refers in-depth research requests to librarians. Supports library patrons on workforce-related projects to assist with job searches, writing resumes and cover letters, and other computer and workforce related activities. Including assisting patrons with internet use in relation to navigating job search engines, government workforce websites and other job-related websites. Records and reports statistics related to tasks including computer reference assistance and use of materials. Informs patrons of library policies and procedures and observe patron activity. Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position. Able to cope with daily job-related stress.

Requirements

  • Six-months/one year of advanced study or training past high school or equivalency
  • Moderate ability level with Microsoft Office products and general computer software and web browsing skills.
  • Available to work day, evening, and weekend hours - including occasional mandatory Sundays.
  • Customer service skills
