About The Position

The Computational Physics Algorithm Engineer will design, implement, and test advanced algorithms for rapidly solving Maxwell equations on high-performance computing clusters that use multi-CPU and GPU platforms. The role supports KLA’s Measurement, Analytics and Control (MACH) division, which develops high-performance software platforms, patterning analytics, modeling, and data science technologies for semiconductor manufacturing. The position calls for knowledge of numerical methods for partial differential equations and their associated linear algebra solvers. GPU programming experience, familiarity with Fourier optics, and experience with collaborative software development practices are beneficial, with Fourier optics explicitly not required.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (Academic) degree and 0 years of related work experience; or a master's degree and 3 years of related work experience; or a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience.
  • Familiarity with finite difference, finite element, and spectral methods for solving partial differential equations.
  • Familiarity with associated linear algebra solvers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CUDA or other GPU programming frameworks for accelerating and optimizing multi-physics simulations.
  • Familiarity with Fourier optics.
  • Experience with collaborative software development practices such as code review, automated testing, and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test advanced algorithms for fast solution of Maxwell equations on high-performance computing clusters.
  • Develop algorithms leveraging multi-CPU and GPU platforms.
