About The Position

The Course Assistant will support the Computational Medical Physics Course for the Fall Term in the Medical Physics Graduate Programs. This position supports effective course delivery by assisting with course administration, student communication, and academic support activities. The Course Assistant serves as a resource for students, helps facilitate the organization and operation of the course, and assists faculty in managing instructional and administrative responsibilities. This support enhances the student learning experience, promotes student engagement and satisfaction, and contributes to the overall quality and efficiency of course delivery. This temporary position is scheduled for 7 hours per week.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide course communication: send announcements to students via Canvas on behalf of instructor; contact lecturers/presenters with reminders regarding class scheduling, to send/upload files or provide homework scores/exam grades as directed
  • Provide course organization: manage the Canvas course site (e.g., upload lecture files, virtual participation links, class recordings, homework files, etc.) as directed
  • Provide classroom support: attend class/lab sessions; prepare classroom technology (e.g., audio/visual) in advance of class as directed
  • Provide academic support: answer student questions; hold "office hours" and student support sessions to address course-related questions and reinforce understanding of course material; inform course instructor with concerns about students or course needs as directed
  • Provide assessment support: grade or preliminarily grade homework and/or exams; assist with homework/exam preparation; proctor exams; return coursework/assessments to students; record grades in Canvas as directed
