About The Position

This is a 2,100-hour, hands-on, and highly structured Classical Pilates Teacher Certification Program. The program is WASC-accredited and aims to foster an inclusive and empowering community, with a special focus on supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA individuals. It prepares individuals for a rewarding career in Classical Pilates, with graduates often securing positions at $65.00 - $75.00 per hour. The program offers scholarship opportunities, with 50% of the certification available through scholarships for qualified applicants, and approximately 45% offering paid internship opportunities for eligible students to help subsidize living costs and tuition. The program is seeking 65 passionate individuals for its upcoming cohort, beginning July 15th to August 31st, 2026.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification required within 60 days of acceptance.
  • Submit Resume: Provide your Pilates/fitness resume detailing your education, training, and health science certifications. If you do not have fitness experience, please submit a 500-word letter explaining why you would be a strong candidate.
  • Confirm CPR/AED Status: State whether you currently hold a valid CPR/AED card. If you do not, you must get one within 60 days if accepted into the program.
  • Attend a free group class at the Geary Studio for Pilates readiness assessment.
  • Demonstrate physical readiness, evaluated in a group class by a Pilates School Teacher.
  • Exhibit personal characteristics: caring, empathetic educators with emotional intelligence.
  • Provide positive recommendations regarding work ethic and performance from previous three employers.
  • Confirm attendance at the Teacher-in-Training Orientation on Friday, September 18th, from 5:30 pm–8:30 pm at 3502 Geary Blvd, 3rd floor Studio (mandatory for all applicants).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in exercise science, education, fitness, or a health-related field.
  • Previous experience in education, fitness, or health.
  • Experience in Classical Pilates.

Responsibilities

  • Complete coursework, observation, and practice teaching.
  • Engage in self-mastery and examinations.
  • Maintain a minimum B+ grade.
  • Attend all scheduled in-person learning sessions (minimum of 12 hours of studio time for full-time students, 6 hours for part-time).
  • Adhere to all school conduct and attire policies.
  • Potentially participate in a work-study position to offset training costs and living expenses.
  • Potentially participate in paid internships for Intermediate I and II coursework.
  • Potentially participate in a work-study mentorship post-graduation.
