About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the COP Services Director in overseeing the service delivery of the Comprehensive Outpatient services and supervising the counseling staff. The Assistant Director will also be a primary source of service delivery. The Assistant Director reports directly to the COP Services Director.

Requirements

  • MS degree and licensure from an accredited college with a major in counseling, psychology, social work or a human services related discipline.
  • 1 year of experience working with applicable populations who have substance abuse disorders.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must successfully obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Must be drug free.
  • Evenings and some weekends required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the COP Services Director in overseeing the service delivery of the Comprehensive Outpatient services.
  • Supervising the counseling staff.
  • Serving as a primary source of service delivery.
  • Scheduling and completing assessments and intake processes.
  • Making treatment recommendations and level of care decisions.
  • Completing psychosocial assessments.
  • Developing initial and comprehensive individualized treatment plans.
  • Managing a small caseload of participants when necessary.
  • Providing individual counseling.
  • Conducting group counseling.
  • Conducting evidence-based practices (e.g., Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
  • Attending to participant needs in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Responding to participant feedback/suggestions.
  • Being attuned to the presence of trauma indicators and projecting safety and trust.
  • Providing crisis intervention services.
  • Monitoring client compliance with medication, vocational, and medical appointments.
  • Encouraging family involvement when appropriate.
  • Recognizing and responding to high-risk factors including suicidal and homicidal ideation.
  • Recognizing, responding to, and defusing volatile or dangerous situations.
  • Consulting with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals.
  • Attending staff meetings and team conferences.
  • Acting as a liaison with networking/referring agencies (e.g., Courts, Parole, Probation, ACCESS).
  • Following established Federal, State, and Elmcor guidelines on confidentiality.
  • Maintaining current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding substance abuse, MATS, and psychosocial disorders.
  • Seeking supervision and consultation as needed.
  • Supervising counseling staff.
  • Making caseload assignments.
  • Monitoring participant's progress to gauge success of intervention(s).
  • Instructing counseling staff in appropriate and billable clinical documentation; reviewing, approving, and making recommendations to clinical documentation.
  • Ensuring record keeping is accurate and timely.
  • Ensuring billing documentation is accurate and submitted timely.
  • Interfacing with insurance companies to substantiate need for extended services.
  • Maintaining and monitoring monthly data, and reviewing trends with the COP Services Director to inform treatment practices.
  • Developing resources for providing services outside the facility.
  • Evaluating staff training needs and scheduling departmental trainings.
  • Conducting trainings.
  • Co-leading and/or leading departmental meetings.
  • Overseeing OASAS Client Data System reporting.
  • Monitoring program census and assisting in development and implementation of recruitment strategies.
  • Representing the COP Director in their absence.
  • Participating in case conferences and managerial meetings.
  • Assisting the COP Director in supervising, training, and addressing staff issues.
  • Interviewing perspective candidates.
  • Assisting in determining staff evaluations.
  • Addressing staff/participant complaints and assisting in resolving them.
  • Assisting in maintaining confidentiality, ethics, and professional conduct throughout the agency.
  • Maintaining a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a staff of top-quality people.
  • Participating in fundraising activities.
  • Assisting with organizing and implementing agency-wide events.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
