About The Position

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join their faculty. This is an academic appointment at OHSU, a leading health and research university. The department offers comprehensive subspecialty care and supports robust training and research programs. Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
  • Completion of an Accredited Ophthalmology Residency Program.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Oregon and Washington.
  • Oregon state medical licensures are required.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching medical students, house staff, paramedical personnel, and the regional medical community.
  • Providing clinical care to patients of the University Hospital and Clinics, and affiliated hospitals and clinics.
  • Engaging in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by the Department Chair.
  • Caring for comprehensive ophthalmology patients and providing staffing to residents who care for such patients.
  • Focusing clinical practice on comprehensive ophthalmology at Casey Eye Institute.
  • Holding 8 half-day clinic sessions per week, inclusive of surgery.
  • Teaching medical students and residents through assigned lectures.
  • Participating in departmental management and serving on institutional committees.
  • Abiding by all state, federal, and institutional compliance regulations.
  • Documenting in medical records all patient care services delivered in support of third-party bills.
  • Processing billings for hospital and clinic charges in accordance with HCFA, Medicaid, Champus, and all commercial and managed care carriers.
  • Assuring departmental compliance with all applicable third-party payer regulations and contracts.
