Join the team at Sweetgrass Pharmacy and Compounding as a Compounding Lab Technician, where pharmacy meets craftsmanship. In this specialized lab role, you’ll create custom medications—like capsules, creams, lollipops, and more—for patients who need alternatives to mass-produced drugs. You’ll work under the guidance of licensed pharmacists and get valuable exposure to both non-sterile and, potentially, sterile compounding practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Active South Carolina Pharmacy Technician Registration required
- Attention to Detail is a must.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Standards for quality, cleanliness and safety must be consistently met.
- Must be collaborative and able to perform as part of a team
- Knowledge of and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to take direction and be coached.
- Must be able to learn applicable regulations and adhere to them at all times.
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
Nice To Haves
- Compounding laboratory experience a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of applicable pharmacy software(s) a plus.
Responsibilities
- Compound unique formulations including capsules, oral liquids, topical creams, troches, suppositories, and more.
- Accurately fill, label, and prepackage medications for pharmacist verification and patient use.
- Monitor chemical stock, receive supplies, manage safety documentation (SDS, Certificates of Analysis), and handle hazardous materials safely.
- Perform routine cleaning and environmental monitoring to ensure the lab meets all regulatory standards.
- Gain hands-on exposure to sterile compounding techniques and expand your pharmaceutical skill set.
