About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate weighing, checking, and mixing of specific chemical compounds for product formulations. The role involves calibrating and monitoring various mixing machinery, as well as accurately documenting and maintaining production logbooks and records. Adherence to all departmental and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining accurate, timely record-keeping for each formulation batch are critical. The Compounder must be able to work with Antineoplastic products and assist in the Nanotechnology department.

Requirements

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements, SOPs, cGMPs, Batch Records, and other controlling documentation
  • Ability to work with Antineoplastic products
  • Ability to assist in the Nanotechnology department
  • Ability to work in respirators, including half-mask and full forced air breathing apparatus
  • Ability to work in clean room environments requiring clean room clothing
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials and comply with outlined procedures to prevent exposure to Antineoplastic/hazardous products and raw materials
  • High physical demand: ability to lift in excess of 75lbs, move 55-gallon drums on and off pallets, move or handle large motors, assemble and disassemble large pieces of equipment and tanks (all functions may occur daily)
  • Ability to mentally focus on duties and stay mentally alert 100% of the time
  • Ability to coordinate up to 3 individuals
  • Must be able to effectively speak, read, write, and understand English to perform essential functions, including understanding policies, procedures, training materials, and workplace communications written in English

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate formulation of all production lots
  • Sets-up, loads, operates, and monitors all mixing machine equipment for product formulations
  • Weighs out and mixes exact amounts of chemicals according to specific formulas while monitoring (verifying) product output from mixing equipment operations
  • Calibrates, operates, and monitors all formulation-related equipment (such as scales, meters, etc.)
  • Responsible for operations necessary to adjust pH of product for in-process testing before releasing to production lines
  • Responsible for operations necessary to adjust Oxygen levels of Oxygen sensitive product before releasing to production
  • Understands and supports the formulation of batches using both volumetric and gravimetric processes based on requirements specified in individual batch records
  • Cleans and sanitizes all tanks, equipment, and chemical containers used in the product formulation process in accordance with current SOPs and cGMPs
  • Fills out forms for recording production volumes (batches) and complies with all current Good Documentation Practices (GDP) standards
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities, as necessary, within the compounding department to provide required support and ensure adherence to the production schedule
