About The Position

The Berklee Composition Department is hiring a Communications Department Student Assistant. This role involves supporting the department's communication efforts through various channels, including proofreading, social media management, and event support. The student will be responsible for creating engaging content, disseminating announcements, and assisting with on-campus events. This position is ideal for a student with strong writing and design skills who is familiar with the Composition Department's activities and social media platforms.

Requirements

Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
Summer employment requires pre-registration for the upcoming fall semester.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. (Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.)
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
Strong writing/proofreading skills for newsletter
Punctual, organized and self-motivated
In-touch with Composition Department activities
Fluency in Poster design software (Canva)

Innovative ideas for social media (Instagram and Facebook)

Responsibilities

Proofread Weekly Newsletter
Attend Department events for social media documentation (Concerts, masterclasses, etc.)
Spearhead initiatives to increase engagement on Department social media pages
Share Department announcements on social media (Facebook, Instagram)
Support on campus events as needed (setup, breakdown, hang posters around campus, etc).
