About The Position

Safran Aircraft Engines designs, produces, and sells commercial and military aircraft engines. Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, NH is dedicated to the production of 3D woven composite parts using the RTM (resin transfer molding) process. The first application of this technology is the production of blades and fan cases for the LEAP engine, developed by CFM International, designed to power the next generation of single-aisle aircraft. This technology reduces noise and fuel consumption, thereby decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. CFM International is a joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; familiarity with metric system preferred.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination including the ability to manipulate small items with speed and accuracy.
  • Capable of producing fine finish work and assembling components accurately.
  • Requires good organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of working with epoxy and adhesive materials.
  • Ability to participate effectively in a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including software data entry and keyboarding.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Successful completion of relevant coursework in an accredited advanced manufacturing program may be substituted for experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with composite materials preferred.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with AS9100C or ISO9001 standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully perform all tasks associated with the bonding process, including kitting, bond layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave setup, surface preparation and operation and de-flash with the appropriate level of supervision.
  • Accurately follow step-by-step work instructions throughout the bonding process (using a variety of computer systems).
  • Inspect all work in accordance with all applicable work instructions and shop procedures.
  • Perform all prescribed preventive maintenance (PM) on applicable equipment and processes as required per the PM charts.
  • Electronically record part parameters using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Precisely use hand tools such as razor blades, scalpels, hand sanders, as well as air/pneumatic tools.
  • Document material and process deviations through the approved Material Review Report (MRR) process.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action processes.
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations related to these operations including but not limited to safety shoes, hearing and eye protection.
  • Responsibility for the safe handling and movement of hazardous materials, including waste.
