About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Composite Manufacturing Technician in Hanover, MD for a 6-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. The Composite Manufacturing Technician will support aerospace panel consolidation and fabrication activities involving aluminum honeycomb core, adhesives, thin-metal facesheets, vacuum bagging, and compaction processes. This hands-on role requires aerospace mechanical assembly or honeycomb panel fabrication experience, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to produce flight hardware according to engineering and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of honeycomb panel fabrication or aerospace mechanical assembly experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to follow written manufacturing instructions, process specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Experience using hand tools and powered machinery.
  • Ability to process metals, composites, and wood.
  • Good math and geometry skills.
  • Ability to work on cure-cart platens and elevated diving-board platforms for brief periods.
  • Ability to work closely with lead technicians, supervisors, engineers, and Quality personnel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed to meet delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare honeycomb core materials for aerospace panel fabrication.
  • Perform film-adhesive compaction and panel-consolidation operations.
  • Mix and apply epoxy, silicone, foaming, and expanding adhesives.
  • Fill honeycomb core cells according to manufacturing requirements.
  • Perform vacuum bagging and compaction processes.
  • Work with thin-metal facesheets and composite panel materials.
  • Fabricate flight hardware using engineering drawings and process specifications.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and workmanship requirements.
  • Support equipment setup and calibration activities.
  • Perform production rework and quality testing.
  • Collect and evaluate operating data and make process adjustments.
  • Assist engineers with experiments and manufacturing-process development.
  • Support inspection, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
