The Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic is responsible for the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Works under minimal supervision. This role involves intermediate knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area, repairing, modifying, replacing, or otherwise performing routine aircraft maintenance work in specialized areas. The mechanic will develop repair schemes utilizing SRM or Engineering data, conduct operational tests, and communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel. They will complete job assignments in a timely manner, read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, and other specifications, and accurately clock to jobs. Specific tasks include repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft component structures, repairing and modifying flight control surfaces and components, utilizing special installation tools, modifying aircraft structure using OEM and Engineering drawings, and completing specialized tasks like flap peening and cold working. The role also involves fabricating repair parts using special shop tooling.
