Component Technician - FT - Entry-Level Lab
About The Position
LifeServe Blood Center is seeking a full-time Component Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in the lifesaving process, as the technician will work in the lab to manufacture whole blood donations into transfusable components like red cells, platelets, and plasma. The job involves using standard operating procedures (SOPs) and equipment such as centrifuges, and also includes instrument quality control and maintenance. The shift is Saturday - Tuesday, 9:00 am - 7:30 pm, with potential night and weekend shift differentials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicates well, is highly organized, and enjoys working in a laboratory setting to produce a lifesaving product in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- The ability to multitask and set priorities is essential.
- This position requires use of knowledge and judgement to ensure accuracy of tasks related to quality.
- Proficiency with computers is a must.
- Must be available to work stated hours & days.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Experience with MS Office is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Process blood components according to established policy and SOP.
- Perform review of component manufacturing and equipment related documentation and release of quality control results.
- Perform calibration and maintenance tasks.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and document problems that may influence the quality or completion of blood manufacturing.
- Assist with validation of new equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Perform data entry and navigation within multiple computer programs.
Benefits
- Night shift differential of $4.00/hr when working 6pm - 6am
- Weekend shift differential of $2.00/hr
