This role involves conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations, while wearing proper personal protective equipment. The specialist will attend and complete required technician training, maintaining a high awareness of industry technical changes. They will maintain the necessary tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble engines, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, final drives, and differentials to manufacturer’s specifications. The position requires performing designated repairs and rebuilds on customer or company-owned components, working in a neat and orderly fashion, and looking for ways to improve work methods, the work area, and safety standards. This includes assisting with facility appearance and shop conditions, following contamination control guidelines, and performing general maintenance. The specialist will inspect components to maximize parts reuse for cost control, complete required documentation using appropriate software, and research safety & product updates, completing warrantable repairs. They will monitor job expenses against repair estimates, inform the supervisor of any cost overruns, and temporarily assume the supervisor's position as necessary. The role requires approaching work positively, maintaining supportive conduct, and training/mentoring others to improve their technical skills.
