This role involves conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. The Component Specialist I is responsible for attending and completing required technician training classes and maintaining a high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry. This position requires maintaining a necessary set of tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble engines, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, final drives, and differentials to manufacturer’s specifications by following published procedures and industry-accepted practices. The role also includes performing designated repairs and rebuilds on customer or company-owned components, working in a neat and orderly fashion, and constantly looking for ways to improve methods of work, work areas, and safety standards. Additionally, the Component Specialist I assists with maintaining proper facility appearance and shop conditions, inspecting components to control repair costs, and completing required documentation using appropriate software. This role also involves researching safety & product updates, completing warrantable repairs, monitoring job expenses versus repair estimates, and assuming the Supervisor's position temporarily as necessary. The position requires approaching work in a positive manner, maintaining conduct supportive of the work team, and contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations. Training and mentoring others on the team to improve their technical skills and competencies is also a key responsibility. Other duties as assigned.
