About The Position

TTM is seeking a Component Engineer responsible for obsolescence review and management, Bill of Materials (BOM) control, counterfeit parts prevention, Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) review, parts compliance assessments, and support for reliability evaluations. Must have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to issue a Secret Clearance, which includes US Citizenship.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required when working with other disciplines, customers and vendors
  • Proficiency in PC-based environments including network drafting records and procurement systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access) is required, with a high level of expertise in Microsoft Excel including the ability to filter, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
  • Experience using BOM Manager Tools such as SiliconExpert and Windchill.
  • Familiarity with high-usage electronic components, circuit design principles, packaging technologies, and supplier capabilities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards including AS6081, AS6171, MIL-STD-100, MIL-STD-202G Method 208H and others.
  • Technical emphasis should be micro-electronics technology, applications, packaging and failure mechanisms, including familiarity with MIL-I-38535 design and construction, and MIL-STD-883 testing and screening.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents in English
  • Must be eligible for a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Minimum 3+ Years Relevant Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or related Engineering discipline

  • Experience with writing Excel macros is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and update detailed part documentation including specifications, qualification records, and approved parts lists (APL) to ensure traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the company's parts control program in accordance with customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in parts selection, application standardization, and approval processes.
  • Engage in the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) process by reviewing alerts and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Identify and resolve obsolescence and DMSMS issues through strategies such as last time buys, form-fit-function substitutions, and redesign recommendations.
  • Review and compare component datasheets to verify part numbering, package dimensions, lead finish, environmental and electrical specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) with a focus on component selection, parts technology, and risk identification.
  • Monitor subcontractor parts control activities and provide guidance to ensure alignment with program and company requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison with government agencies including DESC and DISC to facilitate communication, compliance, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to government and industry standardization programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct REACH compliance analyses to identify SVHCs, maintain compliance documentation, and coordinate supplier declarations.
  • Perform RoHS compliance assessments to verify components meet applicable directives, maintain records, and manage non-conformance disposition.
