About The Position

The Complimentary Breakfast Attendant is responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages, and fulfilling guest requests. The role provides attentive and efficient service, promptly addresses guest needs, and maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming breakfast area. The attendant may also help set up and replenish the breakfast buffet, ensuring items are fresh and available.

The position is at Residence Inn Washington, DC National Mall. The hotel operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and department schedules must accommodate changing business demands. Employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work. A minimum of 32 hours per week is required to qualify for the described benefits package.

Requirements

• Previous restaurant experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift heavy objects.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about food and drinks, including ingredients, preparation, and accompanying items.
• Greet newly seated guests in a friendly manner.
• Take drink orders when greeting guests, deliver beverages, and offer appetizers.
• Merchandise menu items such as appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
• Enter orders promptly using the point-of-sale system.
• Follow alcohol-awareness procedures to prevent guest intoxication.
• Deliver food, attend to guests' needs, and check back to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain tables by checking drink levels, removing clutter, and providing extra napkins when needed.
• Total bills and present checks when the last plate is removed or upon request.
• Maintain accurate currency exchanges.
• Keep the station clean.
• Keep the immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed about problems or unusual matters of significance.
• Follow hotel work rules, procedures, and policies, including those in the employee handbook.
• May assist with setting up and replenishing the breakfast buffet and ensuring items are fresh and available.
