About The Position

The Compliance Specialist ensures that the company adheres to all regulatory and legal requirements related to food safety, environmental standards, OSHA, and other industry-specific regulations. This role involves implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, managing documentation, and providing guidance to teams to maintain high standards of operational safety and regulatory adherence in a cold storage environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a compliance-related role, preferably within the food logistics, cold storage, or warehousing industry.
  • HACCP, BRC, or equivalent certifications are required.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with compliance software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, regulatory affairs, compliance, or a related field is preferred.
  • OSHA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to FDA, USDA, OSHA, and local/state food safety laws. Monitor and stay up to date with changes in regulations.
  • Implement and maintain food safety programs, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). Ensure adherence to BRC standards, aiming for AA+ certification.
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits to ensure that the facility meets or exceeds compliance standards. Prepare for BRC, FDA, and third-party audits.
  • Maintain accurate records of all compliance-related activities, including training, inspections, audits, and certifications. Generate compliance reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees, ensuring they understand regulatory requirements and company policies related to safety and quality.
  • Investigate compliance violations or discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to ensure OSHA standards are met, including overseeing safety audits, incident reporting, and workplace safety training.
  • Ensure that the company complies with environmental regulations regarding waste management, energy consumption, and emissions.
  • Assist in the identification of risks related to non-compliance and work with relevant departments to mitigate them.
  • Support the integration of software systems to track compliance activities and streamline documentation, including food safety and OSHA compliance software.
