The Commitment Oversight & Release Section (CORS) is leading the charge for the Department of Corrections in ensuring transparency and collaboration when determining inmate placement. This team works closely with our treatment and rehabilitation partners providing support to match the unique needs of each individual, while balancing the concerns of victims and community safety. The Montana Department of Corrections Commitment Oversight and Release Section is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the role of Compliance Specialist. In this position, you will play a crucial role in processing and monitoring DOC Commit cases from start to finish, ensuring decisions support both public safety and rehabilitation goals. You will work closely with the CORS team to review offender information and determine appropriate placement within the correctional system. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and organizational abilities, as this role requires careful evaluation of case details, clear documentation, and consistent adherence to policy and statutory guidelines. Compliance Specialists must balance collaborative work with independent decision‑making, contributing to team discussions while also confidently evaluating cases and making recommendations based on available information. Effective written and verbal communication is essential. Compliance Specialists routinely document case decisions, correspond with partner agencies, and provide clear, accurate information to support the Department’s mission. Adaptability, sound judgment, and a commitment to fairness and safety are core components of this role.
