About The Position

The Compliance Specialist is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Compliance Director, perform routine health and sanitation inspections and monitor construction activities for commercial food facilities, aquatic features, and day spa’s, to include fire & life safety elements for new construction and remodels. Provides support to the Compliance team, as approved by the Compliance Director, assisting with the access control system(s) and assisting the Slot Department with repairs and installations, while ensuring the integrity of the slot machines and controlled software, primarily during larger projects and downtime. Will also provide clerical assistance to the Gaming Commission department as deemed necessary and assigned by the Director of Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with reviewing and updating the environmental health inspection and enforcement program as established in accordance with the Gaming Commission regulations and the adopted health code(s)
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the Compliance Director as assigned, to maintain schedules and records retention
  • Performs routine health and sanitation inspections of the food facilities, water features and day spa’s within the jurisdiction in accordance with Gaming Commission regulations to ensure compliance with all local, Federal, State and tribal laws
  • Examines plans for commercial retail food facility, aquatic feature, day spa construction
  • Issues public health permits to new food facilities within the jurisdiction of the Viejas Reservation, and performs routine health inspections in accordance with the established regulations and state law.
  • Distributes daily inspection requests and establish schedules and methods for providing inspection services
  • Review and approve special event permit applications relative to food safety/protection
  • Maintains a variety of logs and records related to inspection and enforcement activities; prepares recommendations for amendments to codes or regulations
  • Enforces applicable environmental and occupational health and safety laws
  • Responds to safety complaints and performs investigations in accordance with federal and tribal ordinances and regulations
  • Enforces applicable environmental and occupational health and safety laws.
  • Keeps a complete record of all essential transactions of the office, including project proposals submitted, projects approved, variances granted or denied, revocation actions, revocation of permits, appeals, court actions, violations investigated, violations found
  • Works closely with local Fire Authority and Risk Management to review environmental health and safety, public/ occupational safety requirements along with monitoring for compliance
  • Works closely with Commission Inspectors, Compliance, Auditors, Surveillance personnel, as well as appropriate Casino personnel in fulfilling responsibilities
  • Assist with maintaining access control for all Viejas Team Members based on jo duties
  • Ability to comprehend general gaming compliance roles (e.g. slot machine and software integrity for testing and certification), and provide assistance as needed, where determined by the Director
  • Performs all related and compatible duties as assigned
