About The Position

Using attention to detail and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, the Compliance Specialist ensures the Credit Union remains compliant. The Compliance Specialist works as a key part of the team to create a proactive environment through monitoring trends related to laws & regulations and making recommendations for policy and process updates. The person in this role is responsible for reviews with respect to compliance in all operational levels of the Credit Union including but not limited to lending, new accounts, and BSA.

Requirements

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED. Willing to obtain and maintain applicable certifications
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
  • Knowledge of State, Local, and Federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of Gulf Winds policies and procedures.
  • Active listening, Analytical, Organizational, and Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English clearly.
  • Normally expected to work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
  • Must adhere to safety rules and regulations
  • Light ' exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls requiring greater exertion of force than for sedentary work and sits most of the time.
  • The position is based in-office in our Pensacola, FL market, operates primarily in an office setting, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. This position requires consistent presence in the office to effectively collaborate with team members and fulfill job responsibilities. It requires the ability to actively participate in conference calls and meetings with other Credit Union team members and vendors. The normal expected work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. Occasional after-hours work or travel may be required to meet project deadlines or attend conferences, seminars, or client meetings. Must adhere to safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with development, implementation, and administration of an enterprise-wide compliance program that effectively addresses the requirements of applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Security Program.
  • Collaborate with departments across the Credit Union in proactively identifying and communicating deficiencies or issues related to compliance and provide guidance in the development of alternative solutions.
  • Monitors and communicates changes regarding federal regulations and state laws.
  • Performs reviews of POAs, Trust documentation, transaction activity, and monitors accounts for compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including BSA.
  • Conducts CTR/SAR filings, FinCEN 314a information requests, OFAC scanning, and responds to requests for information from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Assists with design and implementation of procedures to ensure compliance, diagnoses root causes of non-compliance and potential solutions.
  • Reports and evaluates statistics and data with respect to occurrences of non-compliance, causes, and status of current investigations.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
