The Compliance Support Specialist proactively assists in enforcing Expeditors brokerage operational import standards, policies and procedures. Supports our Vision and Mission Statement, making our promise real to all our employees and customers.

Requirements

3+ years' experience in import brokerage
Familiar with Expeditors’ system (CFIT) and required tools.
Customer Satisfaction oriented
Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels written and oral communication, presentations.
Ability to relate and influence employees at all levels.
Ability to communicate with government agencies.
Ability to complete work within standard procedures, guidelines and office policies.
Self-driven personality.
Commitment to Exemplify our culture at all times.
Ability to facilitate compliance related trainings.
Hands on knowledge of Operational Process Standards desk procedures (OPS)
Strong understanding of 19 CFR (Parts 1 – 199) and the HTSUSA
Research skills and problem-solving skills.
Computer skills, including knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, One Note).
English and Spanish fluency, written and verbal

Import Clearance Specialist Certifications
Customs Broker license (U.S.) or similar non-U.S. country license

Responsibilities

Proactively monitor key metrics to achieve expected results in Operational Performance (IDMA – 100% files audited following CHQ guideline at AUT or AUR).

Complete 52 hours training per year (4.33 per month) and all mandatory training timely.

Maintain professional and courteous conduct at all times, especially when engaging with CBP, CEE or customers.
Monitor service execution within the Compliance department, assisting in the pursuit of efficiency and operational excellence.
Ensure oversight, including self-assessments and daily, weekly and monthly performance monitoring so that issues (root cause) are resolved proactively (Inbond dashboard, Customs forms, Protests, Entry Resolution and IDMA).
Actively make recommendations and participate in the optimization of systems and tools and continuously improve the efficiency, productivity and quality of the service.
Conduct daily reviews via IDMA (Import Daily Monitoring Application) in accordance with Expeditors’ Import Daily Monitoring Program.
Ensure branch implementation of CHB Import SOP procedures related to Import Customs regulatory compliance.
Review all Powers of Attorney received by the branch for validity, and review attached Importer Questionnaire for completeness; upload valid POA and Importer Questionnaire into the POA Tool.
Monitor POA expiration dates, communicate and follow up with CHB accordingly.
Review all Custom Bond Applications sent to the branch for accuracy, work with Bond Writer via CHQ for review and approval.
Manage all Bond renewals.
Notify Brokerage team of any upcoming renewals and follow up on responses.
Perform Override Audits based on CHQ required percentage.
Audit any ADD/CVD overrides that were issued for the prior day.
Report audit findings to Brokerage team and ensure required backup is uploaded to e.doc.
Monitor all inquiries made from CBP or CEE directly to CHQ via the Inquiry Tracking Database.
Re-assign all Inquiries in a timely manner as needed to the designated owners and follow up until inquiry is completed and resolved.
Provide guidance to the Brokerage team on system troubleshooting.
Monitor TIB report of TIB extensions and due dates, communicate and follow up with CHB accordingly.
Prepare Written Requests to US Customs and Centers of Excellence and Expertise for entry resolution: Requests for Entry Arrival, Entry Cancellation, Entry Deletion, and Explanation Letters.
Monitor Customs entry rejections (7501) in a spreadsheet format (entry rejection report).
Ensure proper use of the Statement Management Reports, including: Manage Documents Required (upload via DIS), Census Warnings.
Follow up with Brokerage team on accuracy and timely completion of all pending items.
Provide guidance to Brokerage Team on any concerns or questions regarding Statement Process or problem entries.
Ensure 100% compliant requirements of the company’s process and system deployments.
Deliver Import Compliance Trainings topics to strengthen the knowledge of our Brokerage team.
Conduct training sessions on a regular basis for the entry personnel via the "Brokerage Boot Camp".
Ensure new hires understand the material and provide guidance where there is a gap in understanding.
Provide the necessary material to ensure new hires have a basic understanding of systems and processes.
Facilitate and report government agency visits to Regional and CHQ Compliance in accordance with Expeditors’ Government Visit Guidelines.
Work with Brokerage department to promote how Expeditors’ Customs compliance structure drives savings and efficiencies for customers.
Monitor and support the use of the Import Declaration Monitoring Application (IDMA).
Communicate with Brokerage team information related to PGA (Partnered Governments Agencies) related developments: Customs Pipeline or Bulletins, HTSUSA, Customs info and Explanatory Notes.
Escalate necessary issues to Compliance Import Manager, Shared Service Manager or Brokerage Manager as needed.
Understand and adhere to all internal controls.
Promote integrity and compliance with all company policies and regulations.
Immediately report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the Branch’s Health and Safety representative.
Promote a safe and secure work environment for all employees.
Understand and follow credit policy 100% of the time.
