About The Position

The Compliance Support Specialist proactively assists in enforcing Expeditors brokerage operational import standards, policies and procedures. Supports our Vision and Mission Statement, making our promise real to all our employees and customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in import brokerage
  • Familiar with Expeditors’ system (CFIT) and required tools.
  • Customer Satisfaction oriented
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels written and oral communication, presentations.
  • Ability to relate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate with government agencies.
  • Ability to complete work within standard procedures, guidelines and office policies.
  • Self-driven personality.
  • Commitment to Exemplify our culture at all times.
  • Hands on knowledge of Operational Process Standards desk procedures (OPS)
  • Strong understanding of 19 CFR (Parts 1 – 199) and the HTSUSA
  • Research skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, One Note).
  • English and Spanish fluency, written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Import Clearance Specialist Certifications
  • Customs Broker license (U.S.) or similar non-U.S. country license
  • Ability to facilitate compliance related trainings

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strong knowledge and proper use of all Expeditors’ systems and tools.
  • Maintain professional and courteous conduct when engaging with CBP, CEE, or customers.
  • Monitor service execution within the Compliance department to improve efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Ensure oversight, including self-assessments and performance monitoring, to proactively resolve issues.
  • Make recommendations and participate in the optimization of systems and tools.
  • Conduct daily reviews via IDMA in accordance with Expeditors’ Import Daily Monitoring Program.
  • Ensure branch implementation of CHB Import SOP procedures related to Import Customs regulatory compliance.
  • Review Powers of Attorney for validity and Importer Questionnaires for completeness, and upload them into the POA Tool.
  • Monitor POA expiration dates and follow up with CHB.
  • Review Customs Bond Applications for accuracy and work with the Bond Writer for approval.
  • Manage all Bond renewals and notify the Brokerage team of upcoming renewals.
  • Conduct Override Audits for ADD/CVD overrides.
  • Report audit findings to the Brokerage team and ensure backup is uploaded.
  • Monitor inquiries from CBP or CEE via the Inquiry Tracking Database and re-assign/follow up until resolved.
  • Provide guidance to the Brokerage team on system troubleshooting.
  • Monitor TIB report of TIB extensions and due dates, and follow up with CHB.
  • Prepare and execute written requests to US Customs and Centers of Excellence and Expertise for entry resolution.
  • Monitor Customs entry rejections (7501) in a spreadsheet format.
  • Ensure proper use of Statement Management Reports, including managing documents required and following up on pending items.
  • Provide guidance to the Brokerage Team on Statement Process or problem entries.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with company’s process and system deployments.
  • Deliver Import Compliance Trainings to strengthen the knowledge of the Brokerage team.
  • Conduct training sessions for entry personnel via the "Brokerage Boot Camp".
  • Ensure new hires understand training material and provide guidance.
  • Provide necessary material for new hires to understand systems and processes.
  • Identify training needs based on assessments.
  • Facilitate and report government agency visits.
  • Promote how Expeditors’ Customs compliance structure drives savings and efficiencies for customers.
  • Monitor and support the use of the Import Declaration Monitoring Application (IDMA).
  • Communicate PGA-related developments to the Brokerage team.
  • Escalate necessary issues to the Compliance Import Manager, Shared Service Manager, or Brokerage Manager.
  • Understand and adhere to all internal controls.
  • Promote integrity and compliance with all company policies and regulations.
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Promote a safe and secure work environment.
  • Understand and follow credit policy.
