About The Position

The Compliance Specialist, Distribution is an existing role where you will be responsible for supporting the Distribution Compliance program through conducting pro-active licensed agents’ reviews, data, and trends analysis. You will ensure all assigned reviews of licensed agents’ market conduct and sales practices are handled in a professional, objective, and factual manner in accordance with regulatory requirements, fair treatment obligations and ivari policies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education that would align with the position
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a compliance role in the financial services industry at a bank, insurance company, or securities firm
  • Understanding of insurance activities, products, and practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills to make rational and logical deductions at times with limited information
  • Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner
  • Current knowledge of regulations including relevant insurance policies and regulatory notices, applicable provincial and territorial rules, and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Technical knowledge and skill/ability with information and data management related tools

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset, but not mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Gather information and conduct impartial, independent, and objective review of licensed agents’ market conduct and sales practices, to verify that they align to regulatory requirements and ivari contracts
  • Conduct reviews and evaluation of unusual activities reported to Compliance department
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in regulations, directives and guidance which apply to ivari licensed agents
  • Conduct investigations (where necessary) and make appropriate recommendations based on findings
  • Ensure effective and timely communications with stakeholders on reviews conducted, including courses of action, outcomes, associated risks and recommendations
  • Prepare report or substantive response letters for reviews or compliance programs completed
  • Monitor licensed agents’ corrective and remedial action plans
  • Assist in review of escalated complaints on licensed agents’ market conduct or sales practices in accordance with regulatory obligations, fair treatment and ivari rules
  • Monitor and analyze trends in licensed agents’ conduct to recommend proactive measures for risk mitigation strategies to management
  • Perform any ad-hoc requests as necessary
