About The Position

The Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA) is seeking an individual to join the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) team to provide and develop internal training for ADOSH employees. This role is crucial for meeting grant requirements and addressing other training needs within ADOSH. The position involves planning, organizing, and delivering internal training, as well as monitoring employee training records and coordinating external training opportunities. A key responsibility is developing and implementing a field training program for new Compliance Safety and Health Officers (CSHO)/Technicians and Industrial Hygienists/Technicians. The role also includes developing and delivering in-person training for ADOSH and potentially ICA employees, creating training materials, and participating in the Arizona Management System (AMS).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of OSHA and/or ADOSH compliance/consultation standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and/or ADOSH policies and procedures, including the Field Operations Manual (FOM) and Training Education Directive (TED) Manual.
  • Knowledge of the ADOSH Compliance inspection process.
  • Knowledge of the ADOSH Compliance report and inspection file completion process.
  • Skill in speaking in front of groups.
  • Skill in producing PowerPoint materials.
  • Skill in presenting and explaining training material.
  • Skill in developing training materials.
  • Skill in communicating training material and processes/procedures.
  • Ability to provide training on OSHA laws and regulations in various work environments and classroom settings.
  • Ability to communicate with the public, ADOSH employees, and ADOSH/ICA management.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Requires in-state and out-of-state travel.
  • Must complete any required driver training.
  • May be required to use personal transportation and maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration.
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent experience/training such as a bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Current certification in OSHA 510, 511, 501, and 500, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • 5 years of experience in construction and general industry required for necessary OSHA Trainer certification.
  • Working understanding of Safety Compliance practical theories and principles and capability to apply to training processes.
  • Working understanding of Health Compliance (or Industrial Hygiene) theories and principles and capability to apply to training processes.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, scheduling, and completing ADOSH internal training as requested by management or on a rotating schedule.
  • Attending planning meetings as determined by ADOSH management.
  • Assisting section supervisors and assistant directors with scheduled employee training audits and certifications.
  • Monitoring and auditing employee training records to ensure compliance with requirements and implementing corrective measures.
  • Monitoring, overseeing, and scheduling outside training for ADOSH employees, including OSHA outreach and TED manual mandated training.
  • Developing and implementing a Compliance Division field training program for new CSHO/Technicians and Industrial Hygienists/Technicians.
  • Developing and delivering in-person training for ADOSH employees and, upon request, for ICA employees.
  • Creating and sharing PowerPoint presentations and materials for effective training on safety and health concepts, standards, and best practices.
  • Attending and completing scheduled safety and health training classes to enhance professional development and knowledge.
  • Participating in the Arizona Management System (AMS).
