About The Position

The Paralegal, Compliance provides comprehensive legal and administrative support across franchise compliance, litigation, and collection matters. This role works closely with supervising counsel, internal business partners, and external customers to independently manage assigned matters from initiation through resolution. The position requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Note: This role is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial, corporate, or international paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate environment.
  • Ability to reason clearly and apply legal concepts to practical business and compliance issues.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, with internal business partners and with external related parties.
  • Proficiency with legal and corporate compliance systems and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, issue, and execute termination and release agreements in collaboration with in-house counsel, as well as confirm the amounts due to Choice are collected and complete the termination process.
  • Assist in-house counsel with preparing and issuing a range of legal notices, including default and termination notices, based on compliance committee minutes, termination committee outcomes or direction from the managing attorney for various legal reasons.
  • Draft, issue, and execute settlement and release agreements in accordance with requests from internal stakeholders.
  • Research files, interpret contract language and prepare acceptance/denial letters for contract termination windows and liquidated damages calculations upon request from franchisees, counsel, or internal business partners.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for file research, documentation, and status updates from counsel and business partners.
  • Monitor and manage incoming rush or priority requests while balancing ongoing workload and competing deadlines.
  • Update and maintain corporate applications and systems to ensure accurate tracking and documentation of compliance-related matters.
  • Ensure legal notice requirements are met and provide paralegal support for litigation and other risk-related matters as assigned.
